SAMARIA. 'Middle Levantine' Series. Circa 375-333 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.36 g, 12 h). Cow standing right, head turning back towards calf suckling below. Rev. Stag crouching to left, looking right; above to right, olive sprig. Meshorer & Qedar 149. Sofaer 229. Extremely rare and beautifully toned. Good very fine.


While Sofaer 229 reports an Aramic legend in the left reverse field of this issue, none of the examples known to this cataloguer actually shows any inscription.
